St. Simon's Island 2013

We headed down last week for our yearly trip to St. Simon's Island.  This was our 5th year going there and we have grown to love it.  We stay in the same condo every year that has a great view of the ocean and the kids refer to it as the "White House."  We have lots of room to spread out so it's perfect.  They were calling for rain the entire week and I was very worried but the weather turned out gorgeous.  Temps stayed in the 80's all week and we had a wonderful breeze.   It did rain the first day but after that we just had a few afternoon showers.  Since they were calling for rain we headed down to the beach at 8:00 the first morning.  The sun never came out but we were able to spend a couple of hours out there.  There was a man out fishing that day and he asked Bobby to help him reel in his catch which turned out to be sharks.  He was catching baby sharks which actually weren't so little.  It was a little scary but the kids thought it was pretty neat.

Here's the pics of our first day:

Bobby's Early Birthday part 2

We finished off our holiday weekend by having Bobby's family over for an early birthday celebration for him.  We had to celebrate separately with the two families because mine was out of town over the weekend.  We had a "Patriotic" themed cake since it was the weekend of the 4th.  Everyone was able to make it and we had all of Bobby's favorites.  I cooked baked ziti, cheesy bread and made a Caesar salad.  He had really made out this year for his birthday because we will probably do a little family celebration on his actual birthday while we are at the beach.  Happy Early 38th Bobby!

This was supposed to be our "silly" one...

but Bobby chose to do his silly face when everyone else cooperated!

And we wonder where Noah gets his "mischievous" look?

Once again...trying to keep us from getting his picture blowing out the candles.

What a bunch of cuties!

Fourth of July

Our normal 4th activities were rained out this year.  We were sad to miss the parade and fireworks.  Pam and Jeremy had invited us to a cookout while they were camping but that was rained out too.  So, we just moved the festivities here and invited a few more friends.  We had barbeque, lots of good sides and several desserts.  We had 9 kids here and they all had a blast.  Everyone was running around and playing.  It's nice now that they kids are older and they can all play and the adults can actually talk.  Despite missing our yearly 4th traditions it turned out to be a fun day!
The whole wild crew!

Swimming Lessons 2013

We finished up another week of swimming lessons with Mr. Mark a few weeks ago. I think that this was the boys 3rd year and the 4th year for Abby.  Abby is swimming great so he just focused on teaching her the different strokes and perfecting her freestyle stroke. He also worked a little on diving with her.   Noah and Nathan concentrated on their freestyle stroke.  They are swimming but they tend to not want to bring their arms out of the water.  They have all shown huge improvements in their swimming this year.  They would spend every single day at the pool if I would let them.  (We actually do go most days! ) Abby probably won't need lessons again next year but I will probably do another year with the boys.  Mr. Mark does a  great job with them because he is fun but very firm.  The boys definitely need that.
