Abby

Abby has grown up and changed so much in the last year.  We rarely see glimpses of the toddler tantrums.  She is still very sensitive and tender hearted but she has matured so much.  She gets our sarcasm and understands our little inside jokes.  Of course she can spell everything so private conversations are hard to come by for Bobby and me.  There has been a couple of cute and funny things she has done that I wanted to remember.
  •  A few days ago we were getting ready to go to the grocery store (me and all 3 kids).  Bobby called and told me to wait until the evening so I didn't have to take everyone.  When Abby heard this she started asking to go with me.   I told her we would talk about it later but she kept asking.  I finally told her that Mommy could really use some alone time so maybe she should stay home.  She smiled and said, " O.K. Mommy, I understand."  I was speechless.
  •   She is also so good with her brothers and the younger cousins.  (Of course, she and her brothers also fight a lot!)  We were getting ready to leave to go to Mimi's this week to play and the boys came in with 5-6 stuffed animals to take.  I told them that they could only carry 2.  Of course, Noah kept trying to argue with me.  I was on the phone at the time and I really started to lose my patience.  I  noticed that they all just left the room.  I got off the phone and went to their room.  Abby had taken them to their room and convinced them to only take 2 animals.  She had each boy pack them in their backpack and they had their backpacks on ready to go.  I asked her later how she got them to cooperate.  She just smiled and said I have my ways of getting the boys to do what I want but I can't tell.  (I am not questioning her tactics as long as it is for good!)
  • We went to eat Mexican this week and she dropped cheese dip on her arm.  She asked for a napkin and Bobby told her just to lick it off.  (joking of course)  She said, "Daddy, a lady would never lick food off her arm in public." She just cracks me up.

I can't believe my baby is starting 2nd grade this week. It's a little sad but I really enjoy this new stage.  She is so much fun.  Here's  a picture of Abby with Hayden, who adores her.  We couldn't get him to rest and take a nap so we told him to sit with Abby.  He was asleep within minutes.
