Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

The boys took a field trip a few weeks ago to a local pumpkin patch. We have gone to this same pumpkin patch with our preschool and then again in kindergarten.  This makes my 6th trip to the farm.  It's a little sad to think that this will be my last trip there.  The boys had a great time.  They slid on the big giant slide, ran around with their friends and ran through the hay maze.  Then we went over to see the animals at the petting farm.  We took a hayride out to feed the cows.  What a sight!  Tons of cows run toward the wagon and stick their heads in wanting to be fed.  The kids just shove handfuls of hay at them.  It's quite the experience!  Then we took the kids through the corn maze.  I had my boys plus one of their friends.  They had a blast running around but they made me nervous because they wanted to find "shortcuts."  I kept wondering if I had cell service in the maze.  We made it through and then headed off to have our picnic lunch.  The boys really enjoyed the whole day and were so well behaved.  In think riding the bus there and back was one of their favorite parts.

Letters to the Birthday Boys

Well boys, your birthday has come and gone this year but mommy still wanted to include your yearly birthday letter.

Dear Noah,
I can't believe my baby is 6 years old.  You are now a kindergartner and go to "big school" with Abby.   In some ways, you haven't changed a bit since I brought you home from the hospital.  You are still so very curious.  You are constantly looking around and trying to figure out things.  You love to discover how things work.  A few things have changed.  As a baby, you were not my cuddler.  These days you love nothing better to crawl up beside me to cuddle up.  I call you my little cuddle bug.  You would probably sleep with me every night if I would let you.  You were my toddler who was always getting into trouble at home.  We nicknamed you "Dennis the Menace."  Now, you are a rule follower.  You cannot stand the thought of breaking rules or getting into trouble at school and it really bothers you for anyone else to. 

You are becoming more and more like your daddy every day.  You love numbers.  During dinner or in the car you constantly want to do math problems.  You are fascinated with numbers, counting, patterns, adding and subtracting.  I am amazed at what you can figure out in your head.  This summer you discovered a tape measure and played with it for hours.  I think you measured every thing in our yard. 

Noah, you are the sweetest, cutest, cuddliest little boy ever.  I am so blessed to be your mommy.

Dear Nathan,
You are truly my baby in every sense of the word.  You are the youngest by 3 whole minutes!  You are a typical baby of the family.  You are usually the most laid back, happy go lucky kid in the world.  (Just stand back when someone finally pushes your buttons!) As a young toddler, you would play on your own for hours laying on your belly playing with your trains.  You still enjoy your trains every now and then but your new love is art.  The art center is always your first choice at school.  Your journal pictures are always so colorful and creative.  Your creative side just amazes me.  You can tell the most detailed, imaginative stories.  When I try to ask you what you want for Christmas, you tell me toys that you have made up and you can't really buy them.  I'm not sure where all this imagination and creativity comes from but I love it. 

You are enjoying school just like your brother.  You like everyone and you are playing with someone different every day.  You are very outgoing, social kid. 

Even though you are just too busy for mommy sometimes, I can still get you to sit with me and tell me stories occasionally.  You love to tell me all about your day.

Nathan, you are funniest, cutest, and sweetest little guy. I am so lucky to be your mommy!

Party Time!

We were able to celebrate the boys birthday on their actual birthday at Catch Air, their favorite jump house.  They invited all of their cousins and several little friends from school.  The boys loved every minute of it.  There were inflatables and a huge indoor playground. Happy Birthday Noah and Nathan!

We started the birthday celebrations with their special school snacks.  I had "6" shirts with their names for their birthdays so they wore those to school.   I usually get birthday shirts and they have come to expect them.  We tried to pick something a little different for a snack so we did Munchkins and Yoohoos.  Mrs. Allen said they were quite the hit.  They boys had a great time celebrating with their friends and I managed to snap a couple of pictures because I was subbing across the hall.  That night we had our family birthday dinner.  Usually the kids choose breakfast for dinner and that's what they wanted again.  We had pancakes, eggs and sausage and they blew out candles in their sausage!  It was a fun little start to their birthday weekend.  We have lots more pictures to come of their official party.
